Idaho was once described by early surveyors as a “geographic monstrosity”. The pictures below surely do not give justice to that statement. I mention it because these images were captured at what is essentially Idaho’s only North South State highway chokepoint, White Bird summit on Highway 95. Essentially this is the one spot a proper … More Rainbows On The Salmon Breaks

Photo journey of a backcountry adventure in our backyard here in Central Idaho last Fall. Road based, this far away route takes you over 7 summit crossings. We have so many wonderful sunsets here in the Salmon River Mountains near McCall. There are of course the ones that have that je ne sais quoi. It is actually the West Mountains … More Sunset On Pilgrim Cove
This spring, my wife and I embarked on a long planned 24 mile hike along the gorgeous, rugged, and remote wilderness Hells Canyon National Historic Trail, along the Snake River. The hike began not on foot, but aboard the Kirby Ranch triple jet, jetboat. We hitched a ride from Pittsburgh Landing, with the annual Hells … More Take A Hike With Me: Hells Canyon National Historic Trail ~ Idaho, U.S.A.
